The Millennial Socialist

The Millennial Socialist unfortunately is alive and well. Weather they have a lack of education or just didn’t take civics or world history is unclear. What is clear is that socialism is growing among the 18 to 30 year population. To be fair its not all millennial’s, maybe not even half, but it is taking root in our society and in our politics.

A good article I read today, ” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the voice of an ignorant generation” , really opened my eyes a little more that before.

During an interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” Anderson Cooper asked Ocasio-Cortez, “When people hear the word socialism, they think Soviet Union, Cuba, Venezuela. Is that what you have in mind?” He neglected to mention the vicious socialist regimes of Cambodia, Ethiopia, Poland, Romania, North Korea, and China, among others.

Ocasio-Cortez retorted, “Of course not. What we have in mind—and what of my—and my policies most closely resemble what we see in the U.K., in Norway, in Finland, in Sweden.” In fact, her economic proposals bear little resemblance to British and Nordic public policy.

Socialist regimes have murdered over a hundred million people over the history of the world. This is not disputed and is easily verified. So why is it that this generation is gravitating to this fail ideologue. What is drawing them to Socialism when its truly everything that America is against.

Would America be the America we have today if it were Socialist? Would we have Amazon, Microsoft, Apple. Wal-Mart. Or any of the other major companies that provide millions of jobs and made America the richest country in the world. What incentive would any of these founders have had to start these companies if the government would take the majority of their money to give to all the socialist programs to support all the people that don’t want to participate in the work force.

Look at Elon Musk or Jeff Bazos , would they have had the money to do space exploration if the government had taken 70 percent of their earnings to fund social welfare programs? You know they wouldn’t! Socialism has never worked, has keep innovation down and killed millions that would not toe the socialist peoples or the socialist dictators line. Unfortunately its still being tried in and practiced in many countries and still failing miserable. The people are starving , they are living in mostly poverty , they have little to no access to health care. I am still wondering what is drawing the millennial’s to socialism. I hope the old adage is true in that as you get older you get wiser. Hopefully they get wiser before their voting block becomes the majority of voters.
